Annual Middle Level Concert Band Camp

Grades 7-9
Should have at least 2 years of playing experience

Dates for the next Concert Band Camp, to be held at UW-Marathon County campus will be posted - watch for them. A concluding concert will be at 6:00 PM on the final day. This is a great way to make new friends while doing one of the things you enjoy most, making music. During the weeklong camp each student will be given an exceptional musical experience given in a creative and encouraging learning environment. The weeklong camp of instruction by an outstanding faculty builds to a final concert given at the end of the week.

Annual Summer String Camp

For all ages
Should have at least 2 years of playing experience

Dates for the Summer String Camp will be announced by years' end. A concluding concert will cap the week's study.. The camp will be held at the Conservatory of Music. This is a fantastic opportunity is a great way for all string lovers to come together and enjoy making music together. Students will strengthen their solo and ensemble playing abilities, attend master-classes with guest artists, and increase their knowledge of music history and theory. The entire week builds up to a final concert given in the Caroline S. Mark Recital hall at the Conservatory in Wausau.

Kids On Keys

This special week long summer camp is the perfect place to introduce Kids to the keyboard. Dates for 2011 to be announced; Taught in 8 one-hour sessions


Level I: Monday-Thursday 10:00 - 10:45 (4 & 5 year-olds)
Tuition is only $125.


Level II: Monday-Thursday 11:00 - 12:00 (6 & 7 year-olds)
Tuition is only $135.

An innovative approach to musical instruction for the young child developed in response to a need for structured music methods greared to the young learner ages four to seven. Taught by Mrs. Bette Close of our piano staff. Contact the registrar at the Conservatory at extension 102 with any questions regarding this special summer learning experience.

Middle Level Choral Camp

Dates for 2011 to be announced from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
For singers in grades 5-8 in the Fall

Camp goals include understanding and learning about good choral tone; instruction on diction and breathing, solo, group and parts singing; team building, choral activities and preparation for a recital of camp music.Camp will be under the direction of Julie Burgess. Tuition TBA.

An Application form can be obtained from the Conservatory Registrar at extension 102. Come and make great choral music with us.

Piano Camp

Dates for 2011 will be announced by years' end.
For students with three years of experience (grades 4- 9) or with permission of the instructors. Discover and develop creative talents while learning to write compositions, sharpern piano skills, be in an ensemble and play with other pianists in a group. Explore elements of jazz. Activities are designed to augment the student's regular private piano lessons. Limited to 28 students. Cost TBA. Watch here for more information and an application.

Composition Course

Dates for 2011 to be announced - runs for eight weeks. Tuesdays 11-12 for grades 5-7 or Tuesdays 12 - 1 p.m. for grades 8-12. Tuition includes all materials. Contact the Registrar for information and to apply.
