Performance Opportunities
Every student is strongly encouraged to participate in the many performance opportunities that the Conservatory offers
Departmental Performance Classes
The piano, winds, strings, and voice departments will, from time to time, have workshops at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, allowing students to perform for, and hear, other students of their own age and level.
Studio Classes
Many private instructors will have studio classes throughout the year for their students. Studio classes provide opportunities for nurturing peer support, discussing musical topics of interest, and for students to perform for each other and hone their pieces and performance skills in preparation for Departmental Performance Classes and Student Recitals.
Saturday Morning Student Recitals
As students master performance level repertoire throughout the year, their teachers may recommend that they present their work before a public audience on a Saturday Morning Student Recital. Student recital performances should be thoroughly prepared, and students and accompanists coached in all aspects of performance.
Senior Recitals
At the end of the Spring Semester, the Conservatory sponsors a special recital for graduating seniors. These recitals are highly visible to the public through press information. Students performing on these recitals should consider their selection to perform as recognition of outstanding achievement.
Featured Student Recitals
When a student reaches the level of ability to perform a solo recital, the Conservatory will sponsor the event based on the teacher's recommendation.
Recognition Recitals
Held at the end of the Spring Semester each year, participation in the Recognition Recitals is by invitation only. Invitations to perform are issued only to those students who have demonstrated the highest level of growth, proficiency, confidence in private instruction, and shown excellence other public performances throughout the year. Students receiving music awards and recognition are announced at these recitals. Prominent members of the musical community and other special guests are invited to be in the audience. Performance on these programs is one of the highest musical honors in the school.
