A living piece of wood is used to prepare a viola to play, and it is given a new life as the music moves through it. Yet, when the music is done, it can support new growth. The papers I have chosen were also living plants and flowers. As I work I am imagining the flowers as notes of music, my fingers playing a new melody, twisting and turning each blossom, tenderly tucking them into place, creating a visual symphony of colors and textures.
