When I started looking for ideas for this project, my thoughts were of children.....enjoying the sounds, sights and and simple pleasures summer has to offer. I added their pets to complete the group and bright colors for eye appeal. Please enjoy this piece and my creation of "Summersong".

Each morning, cup of coffee in hand, I look out my window and see the colors of the day and find inspiration. I favor things that are comfortably familiar and timeless. My subjects range from vintage vehicles, farm landscapes and farm animals (especially horses and dogs), buildings (with history), birds, wildlife (very fond of whitetail deer and mourning doves), children and farm folks (with a story to tell), flora and still life, and seasonal landscapes of Wisconsin (past and present).
I am grateful for a wealth of childhood memories, which is my main source of inspiration. My journey began on a hilltop farm in St. Lawrence Township north of Waupaca. I spent the first eighteen years of my life in this small rural community on my family's farm, and it is where I find myself today; living just down the road from my old homestead. My studio in my home overlooks a beautiful wooded area; natural, undisturbed, and perfect for an artist's habitat.
My style is simple; a soft nostalgic realism, sometimes with a hint of mystery. I combine and mix edges, textures, and use "feel-good" colors... bright and warm.
I outline portions of my work with a light color (a signature of my style). I work in acrylic and in oil, both on canvas and on a variety of boards.
I am inspired by poetry, especially Wisconsin poets, like Inga Glilsen Caldwell and Jane Kenyon. Some of my individual statements on my work will reflect a favorite passage.
My passion, painting from my heart, will hopefully invite you to take a second look at a familiar subject and capture a small part of your attention. It is my pleasure to present my art; my gift to you for your enjoyment.
