- Performances: Dr. Lily Chia Brissman has performed at the White House, at the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London, and at art song festivals in Europe and the United States. In Wales she has presented lecture-recitals on song settings of the poetry of Dylan Thomas. Dr. Brissman has also performed on WPR's Live from the Chazen concert series.
Dr. Brissman has taught at a number of colleges and universities, including the Oberlin Conservatory, Kent State University, University of Connecticut, and Concordia College ( Moorhead, Minnesota).
Born in China, Brissman lived in Taiwan and Malaysia before coming to the United States to study music at Alverno College in Milwaukee. Brissman studied solo piano with Eugene List and has been coached in art song accompaniment by Dalton Baldwin.
Dr. Brissman's writing appears in The National Association of Teachers of Singing Journal, The Journal of Singing and The Swansea Review. She is a co-translator of A Woman Soldier's Own Story: The Autobiography of Xie Bingying.
Dr. Brissman was on the WCM faculty from 1991 to 1994, and she returned to teach at the Conservatory in 2000.
